Shadow— Scattered Spark
The beginning that never roots; each spark taken up and dropped before it grows, or hidden away for fear of imperfection. Fire spends itself in endless starts or in secrecy, never grounding in practice. The desert remains empty, curiosity unclaimed and its gifts unopened.
Egoic— Student of Fire(the everyday, self-referenced form of the archetype)
Curiosity welcomed at its first green, both hands holding the staff gently. Here, interest begins in earnest: the new thing studied, not yet tested, the learning walked before announcing mastery. The emptiness is room to try, with eagerness and clumsiness belonging equally to the start.
Spirit— Living Spark
Enthusiasm offered as example. The sprout read openly in barren ground becomes invitation: learning and wanting are held not as private treasure, but as catalyst for what may bud in others. Apprenticeship to desire becomes service only when borne in the open, shaping new ground for all who witness.

A reflection
A young figure stands in open desert, both hands wrapped around a staff that has begun to sprout. They aren't swinging it or planting it — they're reading it, holding the budding tip close like a letter that just arrived. Salamanders wind through the tunic, the old emblem of elemental Fire, the element this suit belongs to: appetite, spark, the energy that moves before it can explain itself. This is the beginner's relationship to desire. Something has caught your interest and you haven't yet decided whether you're allowed to want it. The Page has no credentials. What the Page has is attention — the willingness to take a small green shoot of enthusiasm seriously enough to look at it closely, before anyone has confirmed it's worth anything. The desert matters here. There's no audience, no path, no infrastructure. Curiosity at this stage is often unsupported by circumstance, and the card doesn't treat that as a problem to be solved first. It offers the image of a person who found something interesting in an empty place and stopped to read it anyway. You might sit with what you're currently curious about and not yet competent at. This card mirrors the particular dignity of that stage — clumsy, unproven, genuinely alive. It asks what your enthusiasm looks like before it becomes a skill, and whether you tend to let it live that long.
